Remembering 26/11

A bunch of 7 motley armed terrorists hold the nation of 120 crores to ransom. The unstoppable spirit of Mumbai comes to a screeching halt and the hold nation stands hooked to their TV sets as mayhem spreads for 80 hours. In memory of the sung and unsung heroes of 26/11 and the repercussions thereafter, MAIC students and management organized a programme “Zara Yaad Karo Qurbani”.

The session started sharp at 12 noon on 26th November with the pictorial display of what we had gone through which included the burning Taj, the smoking Trident, the agonized guests and the armed forces and the police at work .The welcome address delivered by Dr.Samir Thakur,Principal of MAIC , emphasized on the need for courage and confidence in tackling the menace. Ravi Shrivas used his cricketing acumen to compare that India would just have to play a one day match to retaliate to our neighbouring nuisance mongers.

Dr Jawahar Surisetti, renowned educationist , gave a new dimension to the event. He urged the students to question themselves on why we Indians in large numbers discuss in their drawing rooms about what should have been done, but out in the streets there is only the armed forces and the police. The absence of nationalism in ourselves was the major cause for our being a soft target. He stressed that educational institutions and teachers in particular will have to take up the issue of instilling nationalism in the generation next for them to be able to be the future leaders of the country. .Otherwise we would end up celebrating one day of Shraddanjali and then forget the whole year.We will need to light ourselves from the inside.

Rajesh Agrawal, the chairman of the society, lauded the commitment of the soldiers guarding the borders of the country. The same spirit needs to be developed in our youth. The power of youth needs to be utilized by the nation.

Manoj Trivedi emphasized that the naxal issue was as much a problem of terrorism and Chhattisgarh stands to be the most effected state. Individual efforts will form a part of the larger impact.

In a rare display of solidarity, hundreds of students raised candles in a moment of silence to pledge for national integration and then wrote their feelings out on the graffiti board. The looks on their faces showed their inner feelings pouring out.Nation building is the process each educational institution should initiate for the success of a united India.
